BRICS Final event and Study Visit to the Unione dei Comuni Terre e Fiumi in Ferrara

The BRICS final event and study visit to the Unione dei Comuni Terre e Fiumi, held from December 2nd to 4th, brought together project partners and stakeholders to discuss cross-border cooperation and sustainable tourism strategies. The partners presented to the public the main achievements of the project.

Over three days, participants engaged in a series of activities that showcased the region’s rich cultural heritage and some of the tourist spots covered by the BRICS project.

Day 1: Project meeting and public event
The event kicked off with a warm welcome from the President of the Unione Terre e Fiumi, followed by partner’s presentations to the public: BRICS Strategy Vision Presentation by the Municipality of Dugopolje, Joint Tourism Path and Destination Marketing Plan by the Union of Municipalities of Biferno Springs and Cross-Border Cooperation Agreement facilitated by Poleis Srl. The evening concluded at Ferrara’s historic city center Annunziata Hotel offering  to the participants a stunning views of the Este Castle and the old part of the city.

Day 2: Exploring Architectural and Historical Marvels
The second day featured an immersive journey into the region’s architectural and historical landmarks:
•    A motorboat ride to Villa Mensa, an iconic Delizia of Ferrara, for a guided tour.
•    A walking tour of Tresigallo, known as the "capital of Rationalistic Architecture."
•    Visits to Palazzo Pio, La Fabbrica dell'Acqua, and the Delizia of Copparo, highlighting the rich heritage of the Este family.

Day 3: Discovering Comacchio, the Delta Capital
The final day took attendees to Comacchio, the capital of the Delta Park. Highlights included:
•    A guided tour of the city’s canals, historic bridges, and monuments.
•    A visit to the Ancient Delta Museum, featuring artifacts from the classical age and a fully recovered Roman ship.

A Successful Study Visit
The event underscored the BRICS initiative’s commitment to fostering regional cooperation and sustainable tourism development. Participants left with actionable insights and a deeper appreciation for the region’s cultural and historical significance.
