BRICS Solutions and actions for tourism governance mechanisms in inner areas
15/09/2024
The partners of BRICS are excited to share the Solution Summary Report “Definition of solutions and actions for tourism governance mechanisms in inner areas and cross-border cooperation” which details actionable strategies for sustainable tourism across three territories: the Union of Lands and Rivers in Emilia-Romagna, the area of Biferno Springs in Molise and Dugopolje in Croatia.
In Emilia-Romagna’s Union of Lands and Rivers, tourism strategies focus on integrating natural and cultural attractions, with proposed tourism products like cycle tourism, river tours, and architectural explorations. Emphasis is placed on partnerships with Ferrara and other neighboring areas to boost tourism through shared resources, regional marketing, and public-private collaboration.
The Union of Biferno Springs in Molise aims to leverage its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and agritourism opportunities. To address its underdeveloped tourism sector, the report suggests building infrastructure, enhancing marketing, and creating year-round tourism packages that highlight local crafts, festivals, and outdoor activities.
In Dugopolje, Croatia, the focus is on expanding beyond coastal tourism by promoting the Dalmatian hinterland’s rich historical and natural assets, including the Mosor mountain range. Proposed initiatives include developing sustainable tourism infrastructure, increasing private-sector involvement, and improving tourism management and visibility.
