Ecomondo 2025 highlights

22/12/2025

From 4 to 7 November 2025, partners of the Italy–Croatia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme participated in Ecomondo at the Rimini Expo Centre, one of Europe’s leading trade fairs for green technologies and sustainable development. The events brought together research institutions, businesses, educational bodies, and public authorities from both sides of the Adriatic, creating a platform to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and explore practical solutions for a sustainable Blue Economy.

A key highlight of the programme was the Innovation Open Day – Business Blue Talk held on 5 November. This session enabled stakeholders from industry, academia, and public institutions to discuss emerging trends, innovative technologies, and strategies to enhance sustainable growth in sectors such as fisheries, aquaculture, and nautical services. Participants explored opportunities for market development, scientific innovation, and skills advancement that strengthen the Adriatic’s Blue Economy.

Another milestone was “The Blue Way Hackathon – Aquaculture and Fisheries Edition”, where students, entrepreneurs, SMEs, and researchers collaborated in an intensive innovation sprint. The hackathon focused on developing practical solutions for sustainable aquaculture, biodiversity protection, and circular economy models, demonstrating how interdisciplinary cooperation can drive impactful change.

These events at Ecomondo highlighted the importance of cross-border collaboration, showcasing how Italy and Croatia are working together to support innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness in traditional Blue Economy sectors.
