The final edition of the BLUE RECHARGE newsletter is now available, bringing together the latest project developments, international dissemination activities, and recent technical achievements in the field of sustainable groundwater management and Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR).
One of the highlights of this final issue is the project’s participation in the 19th Biennial Symposium on Managed Aquifer Recharge (BSMAR19), held in Sacramento, California. During the symposium, project partners presented the environmental assessment of the Croatian pilot site and introduced a replicability framework for Blue Credit systems, demonstrating how the project’s innovative approach can support the wider implementation of MAR-based water stewardship across Europe.
The newsletter also presents the newly published report Environmental Impact of the Case Studies, which summarises the environmental impact assessments carried out at the Croatian and Italian pilot sites. The report highlights the environmental, hydrological and climate-related benefits of both pilot demonstrations, outlines the monitoring methodologies applied, and provides recommendations for replicating MAR solutions in other Mediterranean regions.
In addition, readers can learn more about the project partners’ meeting held in Emilia-Romagna, where partners, public institutions, researchers and stakeholders exchanged knowledge, reviewed project progress, and discussed innovative approaches for strengthening sustainable groundwater management and climate resilience.
As the project approaches its conclusion, this final newsletter offers a concise overview of recent achievements and reflects the collaborative work carried out across Italy and Croatia to advance more resilient and sustainable water management practices.
