The workshop dedicated to "THE PROTECTION OF THE ECOSYSTEM OF THE ADRIATIC SEA AND ITS COAST: the experience of the AdSWiM project and the involvement of the territory ", organized by the Municipality of Udine and from the University of Udine, in collaboration with the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics - OGS and with CAFC SpA will be held in Udine in blended edition on September 16 from 15.00 to 18.00.

The workshop aims to share with local administrators, technicians, media and citizens the research activities, technical experiences and legislative insights that characterized the 30 months of the project, on the theme of urban wastewater management in relation to the Adriatic Sea. The intent is to return to the local territory the experiences of the work carried out by the 12 Italian-Croatian partners who have committed themselves to the development of an innovative model for the managed use of purified water and with a high environmental sustainability impact, which can, once tested, also be transferred to other Depuration Plants (DPs), in order to standardize and share management models of treated wastewater throughout the territory along the Adriatic coast, as underlined by the AdSWiM motto: the Adriatic Sea is one, its care belongs to everybody.

That the protection of the marine environment is important to everyone is confirmed by many initiatives organized at national and international level on the occasion of the World Day for Monitoring of Waters which is celebrated on 18 September and aims to raise public awareness, increasing involvement of all stakeholders in the protection of water resources around the world. The importance of this issue is confirmed in particular by the institutional presence of the regional partners involved in the interregional cooperation project who have already confirmed the invitation. This will open the meeting, which will be held in the presence, bringing the institutional greetings of Dr. Fabio Scoccimarro, Councilor for environmental protection, energy and sustainable development of the Autonomous Region of Friuli - Venezia Giulia, the Hon. Pietro Fontanini, Mayor of the Municipality of Udine and dr. Salvatore Benigno, President of CAFC S.p.A..

The ADSWIM project local workshop will be held in Italian and chaired by Sabina Susmel, LP Project Manager. The ADSWIM course involves the collaboration of great relators:

The first speech, presented by Dr. Paola Del Negro, Director General of the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics - OGS, will focus on "The distribution of nutrients in the northern Adriatic Sea: focal point for the balance of the ecosystem ". Eng. Michele Mion, Director of the Depuration Operational Division of CAFC SpA, will illustrate "The use of the artificial structures FAD (Fish Aggregating Devices) REEFBALL to increase the trophic chain in the marine environment which have been used to recreate the synergy between the treatment plant and the sea". The last presentation will be held by the associate professor of Administrative Law at the University of Udine, consultant for the Municipality of Udine Leopoldo Coen who will propose a "Comparative analysis of the legislation between Italy and Croatia on wastewater management: criticalities and opportunities".

Here the program in Italian:

The worksop will be followed by the round table during which administrators, technicians and participants in the meeting will be invited to dialogue with the institutions and the Speakers to explore the topics covered. The workshop will be closed by the Councilor for Territorial Planning and European Projects, Dr. Giulia Manzan and the architect Bruno Grizzaffi of the European Projects and Participation Unit of the Municipality of Udine.
