The second edition of the ADRIREEF Festival is taking place at the island of Vis, Komiža in July 2021.

The ADRIREEF Festival has a rich program of meetings, tastings, events and much more for the areas of aquaculture and fisheries, coastal tourism, marine biotechnology, environmental research, education and the protection of marine and coastal environment.

Here is a little sneak peek to what we are preparing for this edition of the Festival.

One of the activities is the promotion of diving and diving activities in the prefabricated outdoor pool for anyone who would like to try diving in supervised and safe environment.

Talented underwater photographers from Manta Diving Centre will show their expertise by photographing the seabed at the site. Exhibition of photographs of underwater reefs of the Vis seabed will be on display in large size and the best underwater photo will be announced.

Technical partners’ meetings include the implementation of diving activities in the area of the island of Vis and site visit of the case study Rt Stupisce by boat, as well as Blue Cave visit, Plic Seget and tour of the reefs of the Vis archipelago.

Other planned activities are the presentation of the MD.net project and promotion of the Mediterranean food and the presentation of the “Med Diet Declaration” procedure.

As part of the Festival, Udruga Sunce Split will implement the ADRIREEF children's educational programme, which aims to educate the youngest members of society about the importance of protecting the Adriatic reefs. The educational program is based on the principle of "Treasure Hunt".

Activities planned for the last day of the Festival are Little game fishing, exhibition of underwater photography, presentation of the MD.net project as well as introducing the general public to the importance of the Mediterranean food on the islands. The last activity scheduled is the promotion and tasting of indigenous island products.

Among the invited community there will be stakeholders from different business sectors such as tourism, sport and industrial fishing, diving centres and schools, scientific and educational institutions, together with students and general public. Press and TV will cover the event.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Komiža this July!
