24/12/2025

On 16 December 2025, the technical workshop “Sharing experiences and tools to support the development of SECAPs” was held at the headquarters of the Puglia Region in Bari. The event was promoted by the Department of Environment, Landscape and Urban Quality within the framework of the AdriaClimPlus project.

The meeting involved Apulian municipalities of the Province of Bari that are signatories of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, currently engaged in the preparation of their SECAPs – Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans. The main objective was to strengthen local climate change adaptation strategies through technical exchange and the sharing of operational tools.

Objectives of the meeting

The technical workshop represented an important opportunity for institutional dialogue and operational exchange between the Region and local authorities, aiming to:

  • share experiences and good practices in the preparation of SECAPs;
  • deepen the use of climate data and adaptation indicators to support local policies;
  • identify common needs, critical issues and shared solutions;
  • promote the definition of shared tools for local climate planning.

Participation and contents

During the morning session, an update on the AdriaClimPlus project was presented, together with technical contributions and practical case studies on the use of climate data at the municipal level.

Particular emphasis was placed on the experiences of the Municipality of Bari and the Municipality of Monopoli, which presented their SECAP development processes as examples of good practices, providing methodological and operational insights that can be replicated by other participating municipalities.

The meeting concluded with an interactive discussion session and a practical workshop, fostering direct exchange between administrators and technical experts and supporting the sharing of needs and proposals.
