AdriaClimPlus Presented at the 2025 European Meteorological Society Annual Meeting
27/10/2025
The Annual Meeting of the European Meteorological Society (EMS) is one of the most important scientific events in the European Union, bringing together hundreds of scientists, technicians, students, and science communicators from around the world to discuss atmospheric and climate sciences.
This year, the meeting took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 7 to 12 September, with more than 700 participants from 49 countries. It provided an excellent platform for project partner ARPA FVG to showcase the results of the project. This was a valuable opportunity to share with experts the methodology developed to generate high-resolution downscaled climate scenarios for one of the project’s pilot areas.
This contribution was accepted and hosted in the session “Advancing Understanding of Mediterranean Climate” (UP3.5). ARPA FVG delivered an presentation titled “Towards very high resolution downscaling of climate scenarios for Mediterranean coastal areas” (EMS2025-675).
The presentation highlighted the importance of downscaling global and regional climate scenarios to extremely high spatial resolution for local stakeholders. It explained the links between global climate change and local-scale climate responses, emphasized the critical role of simulation ensembles for exploring future climate, and described the methodology developed by ARPA FVG to generate ensembles of high-resolution simulations within the AdriaClimPlus project framework.
