During the meeting held on November 17, 2021 the technical team of the Municipality of Venice, involved in the development of adaptation strategies to climate change, presented the three main activities they are going to implement within the Adriaclim project funded by the Interreg Italy-Croatia 2014-2021 program.

The first activity concerns the elaboration of the Climate Change Adaptation Plan. This tool, developed with the collaboration of CORILA (www.corila.it), will be shared with the local and global community as the first response to the effects of the climate change.  In particular the plan evaluates the impacts of sea level rise, heat waves and intensification of precipitation.

Alongside this important action for the governance of the territory, the Municipality, in collaboration with the “Avventura Urbana” company, based in Turin (www.avventuraurbana.it), has presented the results from the local survey obtained through a participatory process that involved relevant stakeholders. The survey was carried out through an anonymous questionnaire and addressed to a first sample of 131 public and private entities considered as potentially affected by the consequences of climate change.

The environmental education activity was also illustrated. Thanks to the collaboration with the “Centro Antartide” based in Bologna (www.centroantartide.it), in the coming months 20 classes from the local upper secondary schools will be involved in this activity . Students will have the possibility to play the role of "climate reporter" by investigating and telling the specificities of the impacts of climate change in the Venetian territory.

Finally, ARPAV (www.arpa.veneto.it), the Regional Agency for the Environmental Protection, as coordinator of the Veneto pilot area within the Adriaclim project, presented the specific purposes of the entire project to the audience.
