ACTION project final event in Ravenna

The ACTION project, funded by the Interreg VI-A Italy-Croatia 2021–2027 Programme, is coming to an end. On Tuesday, 29 September, the Italian and Croatian project partners will meet in Ravenna, at Sala Martini – MAR, to present the main results achieved and share the experience gained during the project. The event will start at 9:10 with welcome remarks from the Municipality of Ravenna, followed by an opening contribution from Helena Brčić, Project Manager at the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme. The first part of the morning will showcase some of the tools developed to raise awareness of climate change and coastal ecosystem resilience, including:
- the e-book developed for the Coastal Dunes Park
- the audio guide of the Vransko Lake Nature Park
- the Sweet-Salty Path in the Po Delta Park
- an overview of the project’s social media and awareness-raising activities.
A central part of the morning will then be dedicated to the four ACTION pilot areas. Project partners will present the work carried out in the Lamone River area, Vransko Lake, the Coastal Dunes Park and the Neretva Delta, highlighting the specific environmental and climate challenges identified in each territory. Particular attention will be given to the pilot actions and Nature-based Solutions (NbS) tested or implemented by the partners to respond to these challenges. Through concrete examples from the four sites, the presentations will show how ecosystem-based approaches can help strengthen the resilience of coastal and wetland ecosystems, while also providing practical solutions that can be adapted and replicated in other Adriatic territories. The pilot experiences will therefore provide the link between the project’s climate-risk assessments and the practical solutions developed on the ground, showing how the knowledge generated by ACTION has been translated into site-specific adaptation measures. IDECO will close the morning session by presenting the project’s Transferability Plan, together with the main results of the awareness campaign and its assessment. In the afternoon, the Ruđer Bošković Institute will present the ACTION Joint Strategy, bringing together the knowledge and experience gained across the four pilot areas and outlining a common approach to strengthening climate resilience through Nature-based Solutions and cross-border cooperation. At 16:00, participants will have the opportunity to experience one of the project outputs directly during a visit to the Sweet-Salty Path, in the pine forest of the Po Delta Park, starting from Ca’ Vecchia. After its presentation during the morning session, the field visit will provide an opportunity to discover the path and its contents in practice.
