Connecting projects, sharing knowledge, and building new collaborations!

19/06/2026

Our project partner, the Public Institution Development Agency of Šibenik-Knin County (PI DA SKC), officially presented the BRAVE project during the 9th AZA4ICE Project and Steering Committee Meeting. Hosted by the IMC Foundation (International Marine Centre), the event took place in the scenic coastal town of Torregrande, Oristano (Sardinia, Italy).

Bridging Initiatives Across the Mediterranean

As the AZA4ICE project enters its final phase after more than two and a half years of rigorous implementation, its final steering meeting served as a crucial hub for European cooperation. The event brought together institutional and scientific partners from across the Mediterranean basin to review key project achievements, coordinate final closure activities, and actively explore future institutional and technical cooperation.

In this highly collaborative setting, PI DA SKC took the stage to pitch the core mission, strategic framework, and upcoming milestones of BRAVE.

Presenting the BRAVE Vision

The presentation highlighted how BRAVE tackles critical shared environmental threats in the Adriatic Sea—specifically focusing on:

  • Mitigating Biodiversity Loss & IAS Spreading: Developing transnational strategies to protect fragile coastal, lagoon, and marine protected ecosystems.
  • Innovative Monitoring Solutions: Implementing advanced methodologies like environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis and nature-based sentinel indicators.
  • Overcoming Data Fragmentation: Building a centralized Smart Digital Platform to harmonize technical data, bridge the communication gap, and empower policymakers, scientists, fishers, and citizens alike.

Building Synergies for Resilient Ecosystems

The meeting provided an invaluable cross-fertilization platform to exchange practical project implementation experiences, expand the visibility of BRAVE's targets, and foster concrete synergies with other EU-funded initiatives.

By actively connecting with sister projects across the Mediterranean, the BRAVE partnership continues to strengthen its network, paving the way for scalable digital innovations and cohesive governance frameworks that support long-term marine resilience.
