Explore the Project & Dive into Ocean Literacy!

We are excited to invite you to discover the Project, an initiative dedicated to understanding and managing non-indigenous species in the Adriatic Sea.By capitalizing on the digital infrastructure and scientific outcomes from the previous CASCADE project , we have further developed our Ocean Literacy digital hub. This platform is designed to bridge the gap between scientific research and society, encouraging more responsible behavior toward our precious marine resources.

3 Paragraph_A glimpse into what is transforming our coastal areas

A glimpse into what is transforming our coastal areas

Something noteworthy is happening within the ALIENA project’s pilot areas: ecosystems are changing, new presences are emerging in the sea, and dynamics that often go unnoticed are
becoming increasingly important.
The ALIENA project is closely observing these phenomena, and what’s coming to light is truly interesting.

4 Paragraph_Pilot areas and the identified NIS

Pilot areas and the identified NIS

The Gulf of Trieste, the Istrian coast, the Split coast, and the Apulian Adriatic coast all share the
presence of newly recorded non-indigenous species.
This infographics presents the ALIENA pilot areas and the species identified during the monitoring
activities.

Become a Citizen Scientist: Report Your Sightings!

Now you can become an active part of the project by reporting any non-indigenous species you encounter using the "Crafting the Sea" app. Your participation through citizen science provides vital data for researchers and helps protect our marine biodiversity.

To ensure the widest possible participation across the Adriatic, the application is available in three languages: English, Italian, and Croatian.
