A 4-day project’s activity named “Training the trainers” has been organized by IRECOOP in Padua from 25th to 28th November 2019, has brought together different project partners' operators and stakeholders that work in the tourism sector and represent the tourist offer.
With this activity was aimed to contribute for the establishment of an “accessibility culture” that will ensure long-term supply and development of accessible-tourism services and so developing the skills of accessible-tourism service providers.
The last day of training has been dedicated to an experiential visit where participants were able to use wheelchairs in turn, experimenting with a tour in the city center of Padua, to test first-hand the accessibility that the city will be able to offer tourists, with its monuments, churches, museums, hotels and restaurants.
It was an opportunity to deepen the needs of people with physical, sensorial and cognitive-behavioural disabilities with a focus also on the dietary needs of travellers with intolerances or allergies.
The second edition of “Training of the Trainers” activities will follow in February 2020 in Ancona and will be aimed at associations that represent the demand for accessible tourism.
