Published on 18/05/2020 (last modified 18/05/2020)

Every year on 18th May is celebrated International Museum Day. This year International Council of Museums (ICOM) dedicates it to the theme "Museums for equality: diversity and inclusion" that underlines the importance of the social role of cultural organizations for the entire community, their potential of triggering the change and carrying out actions aimed at promoting inclusion of all community members regardless their ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and identity, socioeconomic background, education level, physical ability, political affiliation and religious beliefs

This year International Museum Day 2020 goes digital and invites all cultural institutions around the globe to announce the special activity or programme for IMD on the interactive map giving at the same time possibility to see what happens this year for International Museum Day on May 18 around your community, your country, and the world!

On this occasion, Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme publishes a Projects’ Story-collection underlining the role of EU funds (ERDF) in supporting of the protection of cultural heritage and cultural sites, with a focus on inclusivity and accessibility in the extensive Programme cross-border area of the Adriatic basin. Our projects are developing initiatives and concrete actions to promote inclusion and reach audiences who are unable to fully participate and enjoy the cultural life of the community while supporting, at the same time, equity, solidarity and democratic European values, building joint solutions starting from the shared resources.
